Feī Dú : The “Poisen of No” or “Flying Poison”

Associated with Anger/Rage/Fury (Nù 怒), where one is under the influence of Feī Dú. Particularily hard on TCM’s referece of Kidney/Liver connection: a chronic propensity to anger and ‘fly off the handle’ will tax the body of vitality aka. Jīng 精. This innate essence aka. ‘Unspecified Potential’ encompassing such substances as (not limited to) Sperm, Eggs, Fibroblasts (Pre-Collagen), Neurotransmitters, Hormones, Bone Marrow and Stem Cells. This association exists due to observations that those folks with chronic Anger overtime tend to display signs of Jīng deficiency (Ex. Sexual dysfunction, Adrenal Collapse). Please note this is why the association exists, not the only reason someone may have this type of deficiency! The idea is ‘being pissed off about things’ overtime damages the Unspecified Potential/Jīng.

Have you ever held a grudge?

Do you recall how much evergy sustained it?

Interesting piece about the 7 Pò is that not only can these latch onto a person during their life; any unprocessed emotion your relative took the the grave will now live on in you. Now it is your job to transmute and deal with for the sake of your soul and your childrens (Traditional Chinese view). Sounds like intergenerational trauma to me, which Science has also confirmed! Given that the nature of Anger is consumed by cross referenceing: it will hijack the creative aspect of self and direct energy into purpose driven thinking of “if this, then that.”

The Innate wisdom of Anger/Assertiveness is to make plans, however when one is stuck in a chronic state, there is little room for any other expressions of self or gathering Wisdom.

Considering the Mandarin Radicals may lead us to a closer understanding. In terms of Feī 非 we find: Not/To not be/Incorrect/To reproach or Blame/Non-/Un-/In- ….phew, I get the idea this Radical is against something! And it is, the Radical itself is not only against, it is absolutly f–k No, and the drawing strongly represents that.

Dú 毒 is Malicious/Poison/Cruel/Fierce/Narcotics, The Radical shows us an image that literally means ‘not alive’. I appreciate the sentiment in Chinese Medicine that it is not the emotion that is wrong; it is the chronic state of being stuck inside that emotion which can be shifted. Acupuncture works in many mysterious ways, and one way is by state break. A good session will shift your body into ‘Rest & Digest’ mode for up to four days. During this time, take note of what sets you off and shifts you back into a dysregulated state: this is what desires tending and is worth addressing in your sessions.

Remembering that Anger is a normal, healthy expression of being human especially in certain circumstances. Pathological implies the intensity and duration of the Anger, which is where one runs into subjective and interpersonal problems. Taking time to connect with your ‘will’ or your innate capacity, to widen and process life as it unfolds. The capacity to experiance all emotions while maintaing an anchored sense of self takes practice.
