Acupuncture and Counselling

Counselling, unlike Registered Psychotherapy, is a widely used term to address specific needs and my approach is holistic in nature.

I will only be approaching diagnosis from a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, and I will be meeting you where you are at. I will be drawing mainly from my TCM tool belt in these sessions. I believe that tools are as important as presence, and I can offer both. We will focus on specific life challenges you are experiencing. In these sessions you can expect me to listen and to offer counsel.

I find the mixture of chatting and acupuncture a very potent mix. I believe uniting our head and body is integral to self-awareness. In the event you would rather chat, I may offer breath-work we can do together. In my own healing journey, I have found having tools, specifically breath-work helped me meet triggers and conflict with enough space to respond authentically. My aim is to make offerings to assist you in meeting the joyous and challenging aspects of life authentically.

Traditional Chinese Medicine was founded on a collectivist understanding and treatment  protocol of psychological imbalances. Not how we in Canada would think, since we live in an individualist culture. Collectivist cultures (Asia, Africa, South America) have long practiced group and individual sessions where cathartic expression tied to specific ceremony, myth or belief create the container for embodied authenticity.

Chinese Medicine has a long history of documenting, understanding and treating mental health concerns. Many ancient Medicines understood the strong effect of mental health status on overall physiology. In my articles section you may explore the Seven Emotions and Traditional Chinese Medicine’s idea of psychology.
